Our fantastic value 'Winter Weekend Workshop' learning days are designed for you to select only the days and the subjects you wish to enjoy.
Our Winter Weekend Workshops began with just a small group of enthusiasts in 2016. We are now in our sixth year and will soon be announcing our dates and subjects, for the next season beginning October, 2022.
Please see below for the remainder of the 21/22 programme.
We meet on Saturdays and usually twice a month over the winter period.
Please check the dates regularly as these may change a little from time to time.
The individual workshops are held in our modern 'state of the art' photography studio in Colby.
We teach photography in a clear, concise and understandable manner and we guarantee your photography will improve dramatically.
The steady pace ensures nobody is left behind and ample time is allowed for you to take notes.

Sessions run from 09:30 to 14:30 with a break for lunch.
Complimentary refreshments are available throughout all learning days, however your lunch is not included.
The remaining 2022 dates and subjects are as follows and places are still available:

Saturday, January 22nd - Adobe Photoshop® for Beginners
9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £35 each
Do you wish you could get more from your Photoshop, or even maybe understand the basics ?   We have the solution as we work you through the various tools within Adobe Photoshop.   Everyone in the small group will have the chance to bring along one or two problematic questions of their own, which we will help you with. This session is limited to just six persons and each will be asked to bring along two image files of their own for us to work with.
Saturday, February 5th - Basic Studio Portraiture
9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £35 each
Learn how to pose, light and photograph your subject. We show you how to produce excellent, creative results using just one studio light or flash gun. This is very much a ‘hands on’ exercise using our remote trigger, on your camera, to ‘fire’ our own studio light or flash gun.  As a group you have an option of either a) delegates within the group rotate and model for us at no extra cost, or  b) we hire a model and delegates pay the model a small fee each on a direct basis.

Saturday, February 12th - Understanding Exposure, Focus & Composition
9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £35 each
Designed for the beginner with a DSLR camera, we will clear the mystery surrounding ‘ISO’, ‘shutter speed’ and ‘aperture’ settings in the most simple and easy to remember manner.    Learn the benefits and differences between manual and automatic focus and where and when to use them.  We also cover the art of building and composing your image to create more creative and satisfying results. This is a mostly ‘hands on’ session and you will need to bring your camera.
Saturday, February 19th - Shooting with Flash ~ On and Off Camera

9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £40 each
For the slightly more advanced photographer, we venture into the amazing world of ‘off camera flash’. This will be both an indoor and outdoor session (weather permitting). If you have your own transmitter, receiver and flash unit, please bring them (the transmitter will sit on the camera’s hot shoe and send a radio message to the receiver, which generally fits on the flash unit itself).   As a group you have an option of either a)  delegates within the  group rotate and model for us at no extra cost, or b)  we hire a model and delegates pay the model a small fee each, on a direct basis.
Saturday, March 5th Advanced Adobe Photoshop®
9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £40 each
For the adventurous photographer, we will be illustrating the more advanced techniques in Photoshop, including background replacement, working with Layers, and creating your own Actions. Tempted to buy action sets advertised on social media ? - save your money, as we show you how to make your own !  This session is limited to six persons and each will be asked to bring along two of their own and relevant image files for us to work with.

Saturday, March 12th - Understanding Adobe Lightroom®

9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £40 each
We remove the common myths surrounding Photoshop versus Lightroom and show you how to get the very best from this amazing software package. You will learn how to organise and process your project files professionally, efficiently and much quicker. We show you how to add your own secure data to each image and safe, secure image file storage is also ‘on today's menu’, before we advance to the various editing techniques available.  This is a subject David enjoys teaching at conventions and seminars around the world.
Saturday, March 19th - Advanced Studio Portrait Lighting
9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £40 each
Learn how to pose, light and add dimension to your subject by using up to four creative studio lights. This is very much a ‘hands on’ exercise using our remote trigger but on your own camera. You will discover various lighting terms, techniques and patterns to really bring your images to life and make them ‘pop’. To ensure everybody has adequate shooting time, we will hire a model for this session, and at a little extra cost, once known. You will pay the models on a direct basis.  We will always recommend that you first attend our ‘Basic Studio Portraiture’ session, in order to achieve the very best from this workshop.
Saturday, April 2nd - Image Printing, Presentation and Album Building
9:30am - 2:30pm        maximum of six persons.       £30 each
In this 'hands on' session you will learn how to prepare for your images for printing and learn how to educate your printer to reproduce the exact details and colours as seen on your computer screen.  We will advise on the mounting and the presentation of your work to show off your prints at their best, whether for competition or for sending to friends & family.  Everyone is asked to bring along one digital image for a gentle critique and at a small extra cost we are happy to print your same image to 24” x 16”, as it should be printed.
